This one’s been all over the pisphere recently, but if you’ve missed it, here’s news of a smartphone made by David Hunt that costs just $158 to make.
It uses an Adafruit touchscreen interface and a Sim900 GSM/GPRS module, and looks deliciously Heath Robinson (David admits it more a proof-of-concept project than the real deal). If you pine after the 1980’s brick phone, this is a delight. Good as well for old codgers who can’t read the display.
